Just before His ascension to heaven, Jesus gave one of the two ordinances for the church to observe – baptism. (The other being the Lord’s Supper.) He said, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:19, 20a). COTSR takes this command seriously as we aim to make disciples. Teaching has been the central thrust of our meetings – Sunday school, Worship services, Bible Study groups, and so forth. We also emphasize the importance of baptism for those who have already put their trust in Jesus as Savior and Lord. It was therefore such a joy when five of our people publicly declared their identification with, and obedience to, Christ through baptism. It was a glorious celebration!
